Our founding fathers designed the United State of America Constitution under three uniquely different branches of government. This move was to create democracy and a state of mind of allowing people to have more power over their government. They wanted to create an establishment in where people can live by democracy and the government did not execute extreme power like Europe did back in the early 1700’s. The three branches that existed consisted of the Legislative branch, consisting of Congress, Senate, and the house of representatives. Executive, which consists of the President, Vice President, and the Cabinet. Lastly, the Judicial branch which nine justices are nominated by the president and approved by Senate. These three branches†¦show more content†¦The function is correct and there, however, nine justices in all is far too few to be able to represent decisions and opinions of an entire country. In the Supreme Court, justices are nominated by the president and appointed by the President of the United States. If they receive fifty-one votes, they will be considered part of the Supreme Court. Over many years, the number of judges have changed up until 1969. Thus, it called for one chief of justice and eight associate judges. The system that was created here worked in all favors due to the odd numbers of judges meaning that there could never be an even vote. Meaning, any bills that reaches the Supreme Court will be pass, or be sent down due to the number of people voting within the Supreme Court. An important concept to note is that each of the judges can serve lifetime sentences. They can serve as long as they want unless they resign and or something happens to them. A recent example is Antonin Scalia who recently passed earlier this February. He was appointed by Ronald Reagan and has served through President Obama s Second term. He served from 1986 to 2016 meaning he has seen multiple presidents come and go without having a change in who gets to represent the Supreme Court. One possible drawback for this is the ability to skew between Republican and Democratic favor for years at a time. Because of this, it may seem very unbalanced in the eye of the public.
